I switched fields in 2012 when I began iPad Rehab Microsoldering. Move over molecular biology, hello microsoldering. It turns out that years spent pipetting microliters from tube to tube, combined with those undergrad summers spent searching for tiny variations in fruit fly eye structure yielded an unexpected mosaic—an expertise in microsoldering perfect for board-level repair of iPhones and iPads. I love how each broken device is a fresh new problem that can fit in the palm of your hand.

Our phones are our lives, our handheld brains. It brings great joy to be able to hand someone back their ‘life’ that they thought was irreparably broken. And the fact that mama-Apple really intends for us NOT to be able to repair these things—-who doesn’t love life in the mischievous lane?

In the last decade-plus my team has recovered data for thousands of people with water damaged dead iPhones and Samsung/Android devices. We have trained hundred of students to troubleshoot and fix mobile device logic boards. We have been featured in the national news and are strong supporter of state legislation for the Right to Repair. Find us on YouTube at iPad Rehab Microsoldering.
